Software Installation

The installation program is located on our web site's download page. From the Demos section, click on the LodgeIC link. A dialog box will appear. Click Open or Run (not save) to download and run the installation program. Enter your user name and company name. The following screen will appear:

Workstation
This setup type includes all program, database drivers, data and work files needed to run the program on a network workstation. A network workstation is a computer that is connected to a server where the main data files are located.

note: You may also select this setup type to reinstall the program on the server or single user system without destroying the reservation data files. Only work files and local machine setup files will be replaced. If you reinstall, check all local settings (printers, etc)

Server or Single User System
This setup type includes all program, database drivers, data and work files needed to run the program on a network server or single user system.

*** warning *** Running this setup will replace all existing reservation data files. If you need to reload the program and drivers only select the workstation setup type.

installation type

The program and data files will be installed in the LodgeIC folder on your pc's hard drive. (c:\LodgeIC) To avoid future problems with updates, please don't change the installation folder. (c:\LodgeIC)

Install the Software Key

The system is shipped with a demonstration key installed to allow you to try the program. The software key must be installed to enable complete access to the program. If you have purchased this product, you should have received the key file (sjm.key) by email. To install the key just save the attachment (sjm.key) in your LodgeIC folder. This key only needs to be saved in the LodgeIC folder where the reservation data files reside. (installation in the workstation folders is not required)

Configure the Borland Database Engine (BDE)

note: A drive letter must be mapped to the file server or machine where the shared data files are stored. You may do this with the Windows Explorer or from within the Network Wizard. (map a drive) Shared drives must be created and full read/write access granted on the file server.

The BDE must be configured to share data files with all other computers using LodgeIC. Click Start and navigate to the LodgeIC Programs Menu group and select Network Wizard.

Network Control File
The network control file controls all record locking/sharing with the Paradox database. All workstations using LodgeIC PMS must point to the same control file. This file should be located on the file server. The default location will be c:\ on the file server. Assuming the default location wasn't changed on the server, enter the mapped drive letter to the server here. For example, if "Z" was mapped to the server, this value should be entered as z:\

Local Share Setting
Local share should be set to true. If this is not set to true, you may see "Index out of Date" errors and your system will not work.
